Top 5 Reasons You Should Use Soapberries

As more and more people turn to natural, eco friendly and healthier alternatives we thought it was time to break down our NEW brand that offers all of the above. The Well Store now proudly stocks ‘That Red House’ Soapberries, they are waste free, cruelty free and vegan. Soapberries are also known as Soapnuts when in fact they are not a nut at all - go figure?  These berries are a nontoxic way to clean and wash without a drop of anything nasty or inferior!

That Red House Soapberries

These clever little Soapberries actually come from the Sapindus Mukorossi Tree in Nepal and are picked and the seed is removed, leaving the shell which is dried. How they work is the scientific part care of Mother Nature – the inside of the shell is lined with a natural soap called Saponins. When agitated in water the Saponins release their soap which has the ability to release and lift dirt and grime from fabrics and surfaces – amazed yet? These berries are sustainably sourced from the Himalayas, 100% natural and biodegradable, which we love so dearly!  The best thing about these soapberries is that they can not only be used to wash your clothes with but also many different cleaning applications because they are antibacterial and anti-fungal!

Top 5 Reasons You Should Use Soapberries

  1. Hypo allergenic:

These berries are perfect for anyone with skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis and allergy sensitivities because they are hypo allergenic, naturally. You can even use these berries to wash and treat baby clothes, bedding and cotton nappies as they are very gentle and no harsh synthetic residue is left behind. As soapnuts are hypo allergenic they do not have a scent your washing will not have a fragrance (like the added synthetic fragrances that are in your conventional washing detergents) so if you want you can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil or you can purchase a Laundry Tonic that will compliment your washing from The Well Store.

  1. Toxin Free Washing

This is probably the most popular one that Soapberries are used for. To use these in your wash load just add 5 berries in the small bag (which is provided with the Red House Soapberries) and wash away! You can use cold water, however for tougher stains, you will need to use a warm water cycle or alternatively soak your berries in hot water for 5 minutes prior to adding them to the wash. They are suitable for both Top and Front Load washing machines.

  1. Eco Friendly

Another great reason to consider Soapberries they are completely 100% waste free! That Red House berries are also chemical free, grey water safe, septic safe and fully compostable. All you have to do is pop them into your compost or soil and they will naturally break down, so you are eliminating the need for useless plastic packaging, harsh chemicals getting washed into our water ways and of course they are vegan! These Soap Berries were also grown under strict certified organic conditions so you know there is nothing unnatural has gone into the growing of these organic natural soapberries.

  1. Save You Money

Your wallet will love this because it costs about a 1/3 of your normal washing detergent bill! Just 5 soapberries will last up to 5 wash loads and once you are done with them just pop them into the garden as they will break down. These clever berries can also be used to make your own body wash, shampoo and multipurpose household cleaning product! Click here to see recipes
